Regular Show Reviews: Meteor Moves

I know it is a little late, but it is time to review Regular Show’s latest episode, Meteor Moves.
Before I get to that, however, I feel I should say something about this show. Right now, it is skating on very thin ice for me. Most of this season’s episodes have gone three routes: 1. They’ll have incredibly dumb plots. 2. They’ll have incredibly forgettable plots, or 3. They’ll be about Muscle Man, my least favorite character. This episode has made it into that first category. It’s been two weeks since Mordecai kissed Margaret and he plans to make the next move at a meteor shower. We have some potential here and the two even have a conversation that looks like it could have gone somewhere. But alas, Rigby has to swoop in and ruin everything. For some reason, even after seeing the ending of this episode, which was positive, I’m still not impressed. Several episodes before this have ended similarly and were never brought up again, although it may be for tonight’s new episode (which looks incredibly stupid by the way).
Well, that’s all for now.

iCarly Ramble: Good vs. Evil

Firstly, I feel that this week’s newest episodes of Adventure Time and Regular Show were not worthy enough to be reviewed by me. (hopefully tomorrow’s will be better). I instead thought of a good idea; I will do a ramble about certain topics of certain shows. This way, I can not only discuss new shows, but old ones as well. My first one will have to do with iCarly and the struggle between good and evil characters in the show.

This topic does not only apply to iCarly, but to many other shows as well. Have you noticed that in a vast majority of the episodes, the “evil” character Sam tends to have a more positive outcome at the end of the episode and the “good” character Freddie tends to have a negative outcome? Take the episode “iMust Have Locker 239” for example. At the end of the episode, Sam takes 200 dollars from Freddie, destroys his much coveted locker (her mom does anyway), and for the cherry on top of the ice cream sundae thats already melted, he is caught by Mr. Howard after Sam has already left the scene. He most likely gets either detention or suspension for something that was clearly not his fault.

Another example: “iDate a Bad Boy”. Sam promises that if Freddie creates her a website, she will reward him with half the money she makes off of the site. She continually forces him to make changes to the website, which he does. After a while, he grows tired of these constant changes and he rips up the contract of their shared money agreement. Sam sells the website and does not give Freddie half of the money ($1000) he without a doubt deserved simply because he ripped up the contract. Again, evil conquers good.

I am not sure if you are fine with evil always winning in TV shows like this, but I am not a fan of it happening repeatedly. Like I said, it happens in many TV shows. Perhaps it has been a tradition since television shows came into being, but it would be nice to have the good side win once in a while, which it does. Maybe there is yet hope for the good characters in popular shows. I will go over more examples in other TV shows and also discuss many other interesting topics that can be found from analyzing them. Until then, thanks for reading!

Victorious: The Blonde Squad Review

For the first time, I will review an episode of Victorious. This week’s new episode was titled  “The Blonde Squad”.

This was a pretty decent episode with a relatively creative plot, creative dialogue and no Rex. YAY!!! The only thing I found predictable was when Andre found Sinjin (what kind of name is that anyway?) eating bird seed instead of the bird. The ending definitely threw me for a loop. I did not see coming that Evan would have just walked away like that. I was glad that Robbie was nice enough  to sing her that song, but of course she pretty much ignored it (WHY?!). The rest of the episode followed the usual pattern of a Victorious episode, which is good.

So that wraps up this review. Thanks for reading!

A Quick Announcement

First, I want to apologize for the really long drought without posts. I was on a vacation with my dad and could not view the latest episodes of the shows I wanted to review. I have now seen them both and I can say that I was so indifferent about “Gotcha” and “Trucker Hall of Fame” from Adventure Time and Regular Show, respectively, that I have decided to not review either of them. I feel they would have essentially been repeats of the previous week’s posts. I will get to this week’s newest episodes soon, and may even throw in the week’s newest episode of Victorious

So again, I apologize for the delay. Have a great and safe Fourth of July!

Adventure Time: Beyond This Earthly Realm Review

Time to review another episode of Adventure Time. The title is “Beyond This Earthly Realm”. I also have a mini-announcement, but we’ll get to that later.

Surprisingly, Cartoon Network has managed to deliver two episodes in one week that I was quite indifferent about. The promos certainly didn’t reveal anything about the episode, other than the Ice King saying “turbo” a lot. The plot wasn’t entirely original, but that was not a big problem in this episode. Nothing really stood out to me, other than the decent visual effects of the Ice King’s visions. The “Spirit World” concept of this episode is starting to remind me of Avatar: The Last Airbender‘s similar concept. Thankfully, the Ice King got what he deserved in the end for tricking Finn. Overall, an average episode, certainly not the worst of the season (Web Weirdos). Hopefully Cartoon Network’s new episodes tomorrow will be more exciting.

Now to the announcement. I have decided to rate episodes on a scale from 1 to 10, starting with this one. Combined, I give this a 6/10.

Oh, and before I go, Happy Father’s Day!

Regular Show: Muscle Mentor Review

New episode of Regular Show came out this week. Seems natural to review it. The title: “Muscle Mentor”.

Honestly, I was pretty neutral about this episode. I didn’t like or hate it. I normally hate shows centered around Muscle Man (he’s my least favorite character), but I was quite indifferent about this episode. The plot was relatively original. It was kind of nice to see Rigby get abused as comeuppance for the jerky way he has acted in previous episodes (*cough cough* *Video Game Masters* *cough*). In a way, I kind of wish he had gotten fired. It might have made Mordecai an interesting character. Rigby’s my third least favorite anyway. Other than that, I really don’t have much more to say about this episode. Next week looks interesting. Looks like we’ll see Muscle Man’s dad for the first time ever.

That’s it for this review.  Next up: Adventure Time‘s “Beyond This Earthly Realm”.

Regular Show: Access Denied Review

I know this is a little late, but here is the review of last week’s new episode of Regular Show: “Access Denied”.

The promos for this episode did not reveal much, so I was quite curious as to how this episode would play out. As soon as it started, I was quite excited it was a Margaret episode (I’m a big supporter of the Mordecai-Margaret relationship). As soon as the plot unfolded, however, I knew that there would be a catch to Mordecai dancing with Margaret. That club bouncer sure was rude to the two. It’s probably not that far off from what actual club bouncers act like. It was surprising that the two actually got into the club before midnight, but the fact that they could not find Margaret was kind of predictable. Mordecai’s speech about why clubs are stupid was probably the highlight of this episode (since there was little to no abnormality or supernatural occurrences that are usually in every episode of this show). It was very lame that the reason the two could not find Margaret was because she was in a club called Box instead of The Box. Nevertheless, the ending with Mordecai and Margaret dancing was satisfying enough for me to rate this as a decent episode of the show. Not the best of the season, however. Hopefully the writers will expand on the two’s relationship in the near future.

That’s it for this review. New ones coming in the near future.

iCarly: iBattle Chip Review

Aside

Two nights ago, there was a new episode of iCarly entitled “iBattle Chip”. While it is fresh in my mind, I will review it.

First of all, while the plot was not entirely original, the episode itself was decent. The subplot was just a tiny bit more entertaining than the main plot. I’l cover the subplot first. It was original, but the references to “Galaxy Wars” are getting kind of annoying. At times I wish they would just say “Star Wars”. It was nice to see Sam stand up for a complete stranger and even funnier when, after being saved, the stranger asked Sam, “Can I hug you?”. Even I felt bad when Gibby started crying after his toy was broken, but was relieved after Freddie fixed it. It seemed kind of unnecessary for Gibby to melt the kitchen door twice, however.

Now to the main plot. When I first heard this was a Chuck episode, I figured we would see him at least once, but this was not the case (not that I’m complaining; I don’t like it when he abuses Spencer). Guess we probably won’t be seeing him for a while now that he is at military school. Man, for a nine-year-old, Chip looked extremely dangerous when they first showed him. Like I said, I don’t particularly enjoy it when Spencer gets beaten up by kids and this was no exception. First of all, he is at least 20 years older than Chip. He should be able to handle the situation without being scared and he certainly should not be beaten up by someone that is that young. Nevertheless, one of the episode’s funniest quotes was probably, Carly: Who did this to you? Spencer: Dora the Explorer! Who else?! Finally, it was cool that the subplot and the main plot combined and that in the end, Spencer got the last laugh. It will be interesting to see if Chuck returns.

So overall, decent episode with two interesting plots.

P.S. In my “Goliad” review for Adventure Time, I said I would review an episode of Regular Show next, but I need to view it again for me to review it; it has been a week since I last saw it. Sorry for the confusion this may have caused.

Adventure Time: Goliad Review

Courtesy of Adventure Time Wiki

For the very first post of my blog, I will review this week’s new episode of Adventure Time, whose new episode was titled “Goliad”.

Quite an interesting episode. Certainly not the best of the season, but still very interesting. From watching the promos, I was curious to see the heir to Princess Bubblegum’s throne. I certainly did not picture a giant, pink, dog-like creature with three eyes and an Australian accent. The first half of the episode kind of dragged, with Finn and Jake teaching the creature how to rule the candy people.

The second half was much more entertaining. It was cool that F&J and PB ended up having to stop Goliad from taking over the Candy Kingdom. The ending scene with Stormo was creative and one that was unexpected and original. It was quite interesting that Finn technically has a son now. My favorite moment of the episode, however, was when Finn was trying to take his mind off the plan to stop Goliad and the return of the “Baby Finn” song. Overall, decent episode, but was nowhere near as good as last week’s “Princess Monster Wife”.

So that’s it for my first post. Coming up…the review for this week’s episode of Regular Show.
